Bassoon Recital by Aw Yong Tian

Born in Singapore, Tian was the first graduate from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, finishing his Bachelor of Music with first class honors. He studied with Zhang Jin Min (Principal Bassoonist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra) for three years at the Conservatory before heading off to the Berne University of the Arts for Konzertdiplom studies with Lyndon Watt (Principal Bassoonist of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra).

Grand Prizewinner of the 1992 New York Brass Conference Brass Quintet Competition, the ensemble has appeared on many of the world’s most prestigious stages including those of the Kennedy Center, Boston Symphony Hall, the Wang Center, St. Paul’s Cathedral in New York City, the National Cathedral, Spivey Hall in Atlanta, the Yale Center for British Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Naples Philharmonia Center, Tanglewood, and the Otaru Festival in Japan.
